La Mare Ô Poissons | Ouistreham
Two hours from Paris, 10 kilometres from Caen and 100 nautical miles from Portsmouth, Ouistreham is a multifaceted city that welcomes you. Ouistreham Riva-Bella is a land of freedom as it is here that the famous landing beaches begin.
Ouistreham, a place for sports
Many sailing enthusiasts come here to defy the storms: windsurfing, sand yachting, kitesurfing or kite flying for the less adventurous, the show is often impressive.
Cyclists also belong in Riva-Bella. As a matter of fact, it is here that the cycling francette begins, this 615 kilometres long greenway that links Caen to La Rochelle.
Finally Ouistreham is also the place of happiness for riders. With its long beach of several kilometers, some exceptional gallops along the beach awaits you.
And why not try a little walk along the coastline, this famous water walk? The water might be chill at times but it is good for the blood flow, they say!

Ouistreham, a place of leisure
Calm and relaxation are essential here, on the coast of Nacre.
Both in summer and in winter, many walks await you. On the beach, along the sea, come and admire the old norman buildings dampened by storms. The younger ones can collect shells during low tides.
Take the time to admire the birds from your chair. Pass through the Ouistreham lock and you will find yourself in a unique, portected natural area.
About 20 minutes from Ouistreham, Cabourg and its “Lover’s walk” welcomes you. And at 40 kilometres, come and experience the adrenaline rush on the Deauville racetracks!
Ouistreham, a place of freedom
This is where the famous landing beaches begin. A little further north, in Arromanches, the artificial harbour is still visible, alongside the impressive cliffs of the Pointe du Hoc and the American cemetery.
10 minutes from the sea, you will find Caen and its memorial commemorating the war heroes. For a few hours, dive into the heart of the conflicts that have torn the planet apart, but also experience the landing and liberation as if you were there.
